The inaugural Transnational Ladies Team Cup was won by the team designated as Italy 4, Carla Gianardi Laura Rovera Sara Cividin Ornella Colonna. The runners up were Italy 1, Marilin Vanuzzi Vanessa Torielli Ilari Saccavini Marina Fransos Antonella Caggese Roberta Peirce with an England/Ireland combination third, Angela McCready Detta Bentley Petra O'Neill Patsy Meehan.

On the Open Series the situation remained virtually the same at the top of the open series, as Russia continued to lead and Poland to follow very close behind. Greece is a comfortable third, while Norway and Italy occupy the remaining two qualifying positions for the Bermuda Bowl.

In the Ladies, favourite England climbed at the top beating San Marino and neighbouring Wales. Following at some distance are reigning champions Austria, France and Spain, while European representation to the Venice Cup is so far completed with Israel.

It is the three second teams of France, Italy and Germany that lead the race in the Seniors series.
